Merino wool is an incredible fibre. The properties are almost too crazy to believe; anti-microbial, water-repellant, insulating-yet-breathable, the list goes on. One thing that merino can struggle with however is durability. With the role of to push boundaries and fine new innovations, this issue had to be addressed.
The long-term wear issue of merino has been overcome by weaving in a similarly impressive man-made yarn called 37.5® polyester. This technology helps to keep your core body temp at an ideal 37.5ºC whilst maintaining the microclimate next to your skin at a relative humidity of 37.5%. When you’re overheating the naturally-derived, patented active particles remove sweat in the vapour stage before it forms a liquid. When you’re cold, the same particles trap heat to help keep you toasty. This technology is permanently embedded into the fabric and it'll last the lifetime of the garment since it's not a chemical finish.
A final bonus is that the yarn is designed so that – unlike other wool garments – this can be machine washed. A godsend given how much you'll likely be wearing this.
